Squamish Home Update
It’s been almost a year in our new home and just like my confusion with how the kids seem to grow so fast, the time has flown by!
We’re still chipping away at the overall furnishings and décor, which has been a fun process, but overall the place feels like it’s really coming together. We just recently completed our living area with a beautiful rug and circular coffee table from Restoration Hardware that I feel really competes the room. I wasn’t at all considering a table like this until I saw it; no corners means less concern with Hazy learning to walk (and Aspen, quite frankly!), and the low stature is the perfect height for the boys to play.
I love seeing the character of the house as each area comes into its own; and one such space is our dining area. We waited quite a while to purchase a dining table and chairs. Partially because I couldn’t decide on exactly what style I wanted, and partly because we were furnishing an entire home from scratch and the beds, mattresses and outdoor living furniture got a priority.
Because we were short on seating when we initially moved in, we fed the kids and ate all of our meals at the kitchen island; Hayes in a Bumbo seat on the counter and Aspen, Jay and I on the counter stools. This was easy and made for casual dinners, but I was so excited to finally sit around the dining table together and start to set this time as a special one where we could look each other in the eyes and take a much-needed break from the busyness of life. Sitting at the counter meant I was staring at the dishes and sitting around the table feels like a permission slip to focus on Jay and the boys and worry about a spotless kitchen later.
Because I have been particular about the design in our new place, I was so thrilled to have picked out seats for the boys in the dining room that fit them as much as our décor. If you’ve followed me on social media for some time, you may recall the Stokke Newborn Set we started using when Hayes was first born. Stokke’s Tripp Trapp chair is a beautiful wooden chair that actually grows with your child, so no need to purchase multiple seats as your infant becomes a baby and your baby becomes a toddler. As baby grows, you simply change the attachment set and have the ability to adjust the height of the seat as well as the footplate. So, now that Hayes is 14 months old we removed the Newborn Set and added the Baby Set to his chair. Voila, high chair! We got a second Tripp Trapp chair for Aspen without any attachments, and they each have their own cute seat cushions that give their seats some of their own character and also make them nice and cozy.
I have become so appreciative of high quality and aesthetically pleasing baby gear in my home – and it’s wild that it’s often such a challenge to find! We got the Hazy Grey Tripp Trapp chair (how perfect is that?!) for both boys, but the seat comes in 17 different colours so anyone can be sure they’ll find the right tone for their space.
I love how these seats truly grow with my babies and I look forward to many more messy dinners and fun evenings around the dinner table with these guys…and maybe we’ll even get to break out that Newborn Set again one of these days (come on baby sister!)
Happy momming and dining!

P.S. No, I’m not pregnant! But yes, we do hope that we will be blessed with a baby number 3 one day. But not today!
P.P.S. We will be travelling in Bali for the month of February so we just listed our place on Airbnb – check it out here!
Stokke products in this post were gifted to me. As always, all thoughts and opinions expressed here are my own.
